I hate getting mammograms. They hurt. And they don’t always detect cancer. In fact, a mammogram missed mine three years ago. Nevertheless, I suck it up at my annual check-ups. Just in case they find something.

And this time, while my breast is compressed, I’ll be thinking about the women in my life who recently died of this disease. And how much they are missed.
