Today’s Pink Stroke of Genius: “The Lemonade Fund” in Israel Doesn’t Discriminate – it Gives Grants to Any Breast Cancer Patient in Need

Survivor Shari Mendes considers herself lucky. Not only did her treatment put her cancer in remission, but she had disability insurance to cover expenses and reduce her stress. A luxury not all women have. Mendes admits, “I can’t help cure their cancer, but I can help alleviate their financial burden.”And so exactly one year after her diagnosis, she founded the Israel Breast Cancer Emergency Relief Fund. Nicknamed ‘The Lemonade Fund‘ the organization gives grants to women from all walks of life – Jews and Arabs, new immigrants and longtime Israelis. Breast cancer doesn’t discriminate, and neither does The Lemonade Fund.
